Reality TV star, Melody Holt, gets real about her new found fame as well as the ups and downs of trying to have it all.

There are some new kids on the block of Reality TV. They’re the cast of the Oprah Winfrey Network’s newest unscripted series, Love & Marriage: Huntsville. And one of their break out stars is making quite a splash.

The show follows the lives of three power couples in Huntsville, AL.

Martell and Melody Holt have been married for more than 10 years and are have three children. They own and run a real estate development company called Holt & Holt Entrepreneurship.

Maurice Scott owns a credit repair company and his new wife, Kimberlee Scott is a Registered Nurse by trade, and a licensed Real Estate Agent.

Marsau Scott is a commercial general contractor and his wife, Latisha Scott, is a Real Estate Developer. They’ve been married more than 12 years and have three children.

During the series viewers witness the ups and downs of the cast’s relationships and careers as the couples attempt to mix business with pleasure.

“It’s great to see young people coming in showing positivity, showing us trying to do something for the community, which you don’t see a lot,” Melody Holt said during a recent interview on Skooled.

On the show, viewers are introduced to Melody as a successful millennial mom, wife, “serial entrepreneur,” socialite and friend who seems to have everything figured out.

Melody was able to build a successful business with her husband, bring three beautiful lives into this world and somehow manage to stay thin as a rail while doing it.

I feel like I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what all I need to do or where I need to be,” Melody told me when I asked her how she balances it all during our recent interview. “I just do it. I’m just there you know. And I go and I move,” she said.

Viewers soon learn that, like many of us, Melody’s life is complicated and at times can seem like a roller coaster ride filled with ups and downs.

There were moments when she experienced friction with her fellow cast members while the group tried to re-launch their multi-million dollar plan to develop some of the Rocket City’s most underdeveloped and underserved areas.

“What if we work together as a unit and go back into our community that has been maybe overlooked or poverty stricken where we grew up and try to make change,” Melody said.

At some points things get so tense that you begin to wonder if the friends will succeed or if they’ll let personal quarrels turn them against one another.

Melody also struggles to maintain solid lines of communication with Latisha and Kimmi.

The couples were all friends before the show started, which makes their conflicts particularly authentic and revealing.

“I tell people, what you see is what you get, said Melody. “The conversations you guys see us having, the disagreements you see us having and the fun that you see us having, that’s whether the cameras would have been there or not because that’s us period.”

Even more intriguing are the obstacles each couple faces as they confront the realities of love and marriage. Some of the most revealing moments during the series is when Melody also reveals that her husband had been unfaithful to her.

Not only did Martell cheat on Melody, but he reveals on the show that he had a full-blown relationship with another woman for more than a year.

Throughout the series, Melody struggles with forgiving Martell as she decides whether to fight for her marriage or walk away for good.

While Melody admits that she has received some criticism for letting the world into her bedroom, she said she has no regrets.

“It was important for us to pull back those layers and show real,” she said. “To show people that you know what we’re going to be transparent and show you’re not alone. You’re not the only person whose going through whatever it is that you may be going through whether it’s in a marriage or with a friend.”
